Progressive Snapshot Program

Everyone has been asking about Progressive’s new Auto Insurance discount program called Snapshot. What is Snapshot? How do I get it? What kind of discounts does Snapshot provide? Theses are just a few of the questions that we have been getting. Here at Insurance Specialists we strive to inform our clients about new insurance products and the discounts available.

What’s Snapshot?

Snapshot is a one of a kind new program from Progressive Insurance that gives you a rate based on your personal driving habits. The better you drive, the better the discount. Safe driving can save you up to an extra 30% off your insurance rate.

Does Snapshot cost anything?

Snapshot is free to try. There is no cost or obligation in trying out Snapshot!

Can anyone try Snapshot?

Anyone can try Snapshot as long as it is available in the state that you have insurance in. If you are a new or existing Progressive client, you can request Snapshot from Insurance Specialists. If you are insured with another company and thinking of switching to Progressive give Insurance Specialists a call at 702-307-3398 and we can get your insurance needs taken care of.

How do I sign up for Snapshot?

You can either sign up over the phone or stop by our local Las Vegas office located at 5025 S Eastern Ave, #20, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

What information do you need to take a “test drive” for Snapshot?

We will take your contact information, date of birth, name, along with your vehicle and household details.

What happens next when I sign up?

Within seven to ten days of signing up to take the test drive, or switching to Progressive insurance, you will get your Snapshot device in the mail. Plug into your car and drive just the same as you have before. The great thing about this program is you can go online to see your up-to-date driving details and what the projected discounts will be.

Can I change my decision to stop Snapshot?

Of course. If you decide that Snapshot is not right for you, you can end at anytime.

What habits affect my potential discounts?

Miles driven, brake habits, hours driven are things that can affect your potential discount.

Is there any other information that you collect?

Once the device is plugged in, the Vehicle Identification Number will be collected as well as taking note of whether the device stays plugged in so we can contact you if the device is disconnected. The device in no way tracks your location, or speeding habits. Snapshot does not contain GPS technology.

Commercial vehicles are eligible right?

Not at this time. This is only for private passenger vehicles.

How can I see my projected savings, and driving information?

One the device has been plugged in, you can log into your policy and see your latest update. You will also be able to review specific trips, view driving habits, and track driving by day of the week or time of day.

When will I start saving?

After the device has been in place and you have logged thirty days of driving, any savings you earn will show on your policy immediately. After that, you stick with Snapshot for 5 more months to setup your renewal discount.

Will my rates go up based on my driving with Snapshot?

No! Snapshot will not increase your Progressive insurance policy. The Snapshot program is for discounts only.

For the “Test Drive” when will I get my discount and how do I apply that discount?

After thirty days of tracking your driving information, you will see what you might be able to save if you switched your insurance over to Progressive. To apply the discount once you finish the Snapshot trial period, you will need to start a quote with Insurance Specialists. We will add the Snapshot discount and help you save on your auto insurance.

If I want to end my trial early, what do I do?

Just let us know you want to end your trial and send the Snapshot device back within sixty days.

Do I need to switch insurance companies immediately?

You will have up to six months to switch over to Progressive insurance.

When should I cancel my current insurance?

Keep your current coverage while you are trying Snapshot. If Progressive is the right fit for you at the end of your trial we will help you switch companies.

Also, where do I plug in the device?

Snapshot plugs into your automobile’s onboard diagnostic port or ODP for short. In most cars this is located near or beneath the steering column in your car. You can always refer to the owner’s manual in your vehicle for help. If you are having trouble plugging in the device, of it is uncomfortable for you to reach the port, please stop and ask for help.

Will Snapshot work in all of my cars?

Yes. This device is compatible with most vehicles built after 1995. We can send a device for each of your cars that are eligible.

How do I know that it is working?

When you start the car there will be a blinking light on the device. If you do not see the light blinking, unplug and plug it back it. If this does not work, Progressive will help in getting the problem resolved.

What happens if my device stops working?

You will get an e-mail alert with details on what to do next.

If I lose my device?

Call us so we can get a new one out to you. Unfortunately, a $50.00 charge applies for an unreturned device.

Why does my Snapshot plug-in beep when I drive?

The device will beep when you make a hard brake. This instant feedback can help improve your driving.

Will Progressive share my information?

Your information will not be shared unless it is required to service your insurance policy, perform research, prevent fraud, or comply with the law. Progressive also won’t use Snapshot information to resolve a claim unless you or the registered vehicle owner permits Progressive to do so.

How long do you keep my information?

At a minimum Progressive will follow the rules established by your state’s department of insurance.
